So with the new (and final) season of The Sopranos just around the corner, I decided to jump the gun a bit and see if I could find some Sopranos ringtones. Luckily, it wasn’t too difficult and I managed to find the Sopranos ring tone over on the thumb play website (click here if you want to get the ringtone) fairly quickly. Good stuff! Love the Sopranos, and love the Sopranos ring tone even more
Aside from my love for the Sopranos ring tone (I’m kind of a ringtone buff) I am also looking forward to this new season. A lot of people really slammed the last season, but I didn’t think it was too bad, just not everything we’d anticipated and hoped for. We’ll see if in the end the Sopranos lives up to its hype that it has rightfully earned, particularly earlier in the series, or if it flops. I’m crossing my fingers hoping it’ll be a great finale to a great show. In the mean time, I’ll just hang out and enjoy my Sopranos ringtones

So maybe I am a little late, but I thought I should do a quick post on Halloween. Chris and I both dressed up as “ninjas” (pardon my ignorance for those who are well-informed on martial arts). At first, we were trying to throw together costumes with things we had laying around the house, but we both ended up looking pretty silly and people couldn’t really tell what we were. That would simply not do, so we started searching online for ninja costumes and what we ended up doing was purchasing costume materials from real martial arts sites.
There are a number of quality websites out there that can provide martial arts supplies that are completely authentic. Although authenticity wasn’t our number one concern (we just wanted people to understand what we were), it was a nice bonus. We ended up buying a bunch of sparring gear and wearing that as our costumes, so we were sort of “ninjas in training.” I thought it was pretty cool.
We started the night out by heading to the big “Castro” party in San Francisco. It seemed pretty insane with literally thousands of people roaming the streets. Quite a few of the party participants were pretty heavily inebriated, and you could sort of tell something bad was going to happen.
After about an hour of hanging out, we heard a banging noise that sounded link fireworks, so we turned to look and saw that what we had thought was the bang of a firecracker was actually a gun shot. It was quickly followed by about 10 more. The crowd started literally stampeding away, with some people even pulling down fences to get as far from the action as possible. Chris and I, being the morons we are, just sort of stood there. After about 30 seconds we went over to see if anyone needed help, but the police were already on the scene and asked us to leave. It turns out that we had actually seen seven people get shot in some kind of gang related violence. Crazy night, eh?

I was at the hospital recently to visit a family member and was shocked by what I saw. It had nothing to do with anyone being ill instead it was all about the people working at the hospital.
Gone were those depressing stark white uniforms that it seems nurses have been wearing since the beginning of time. I remember back in the day when those uniforms came complete with a white hat emblazoned with a bright red cross.
Now the nurses, orderlies, lab technicians and receptionists even are wearing colorful scrubs. Both men and women were dressed in stylish new scrubs in all colors including blue, orange and pink.
What struck me the most was how it immediately changes the tone of the hospital. The colorful scrubs create this warm and inviting atmosphere. The medical workers blend right in with the patients. It’s so much more comfortable than seeing people walking around in boring white dresses, pants and suits.
The style of the scrubs is also different than the green ones we’ve all seen when watching those medical dramas on television. One of the x-ray technicians was wearing a pair of blue flared pants along with a yellow and blue short sleeve shirt. Her look was professional and put together without being standoffish.
It’s not just women who are taking advantage of this new trend in scrubs. Men have choices in medical garb now as well. Granted the white lab coats aren’t going to disappear any time soon, but the men’s scrubs are looking better than ever.
For any of us, either men or women, interested in fashion, I have to say that being a nurse now has another benefit in addition to providing care to people. You can look great at the same time. It’s no longer a choice between a career in medicine and fashion, you can actually have both.

Last night I was out with some of my buddies who had gone camping together the weekend before, and they all three swore they had seen a UFO pass overhead. Where were they camping? Just outside of Santa Cruz, California at the Henry Cowell State Park. As usually, I pretty much just shrugged and said “cool” at word of a UFO sighting—after all the discovery and history channel episodes I’ve seen debunking the most famous sightings , I kind of lost interest in UFOs. But the strange thing about this was that my friends were so passionate and convinced that they had seen one—even “swearing” it was true.
Like I said, I usually ignore almost everything I hear about UFOs simply because there seems to be so much fiction out there. But after hearing my friends (I still did not believe that what they saw was a UFO—I think it was probably a shooting star or even an airplane), I went online at home and started reading about UFO sightings. You would be shocked at how many of these are reported. Now, in fairness, UFO stands for Unidentified Flying Object—that doesn’t necessarily mean an “alien” space craft, it is just something (an object) that is flying and that has not been identified.
As I dug deeper and explored Google and many other websites, I started to read about some really interesting UFO sightings that had taken place in Mexico and that had been unintentionally caught on camera during interviews with a major politician (sorry I can’t remember which one off the top of my head). Again, after all my exposure to hoaxes, I am skeptical, but if you are interested in UFOs , there is certainly no shortage of information on the internet.

Who hasn’t seen those adorable television commercials featuring a very life like gecko proclaiming the virtues of Geico Insurance? For most people it seemed that Geico Insurance burst onto the scene not long ago, but its history may surprise you a little.
The term “Geico” is an acronym for Government Employees Insurance Compnay. It was started by a husband and wife team who wanted to offer auto insurance to government employees and their families. The premise was that these people were a better risk and by offering them a discounted auto insurance rate, more government employees would want to take advantage.
Over time this began to change and Gieco Insurance was offered to all individuals regardless of where they worked. It ceased to be just a resource for those employed by the government.
With the help of the computerized gecko seen in commercials, Geico has grown their business by leaps and bounds. Their marketing strategy is unique as is their approach to insurance.
At Geico Insurance the belief is held that auto insurance should be sold over the telephone or the internet. This is very different than the traditional method by which people are accustomed to purchasing insurance. At Geiko, you simply call their telephone number or do an online rate quote. They prefer this approach as they believe it allows them to offer a cheaper rate on most insurance packages because they aren’t shouldering the extra burden of overhead costs such as storefront offices and additional employees. Many other companies find it hard to compete with this innovative approach.
Although Geico Insurance is really well-known for their auto insurance products they do offer other types of coverage. Home, motorcycle or ATV insurance are a few examples of the insurance you can find at the home of that adorable and very memorable computer generated gecko.
